Theater, International Baccalaureate, and Pre-IB students took a trip to the Alabama Shakespeare Festival located in Montgomery, AL. While there, they saw the play The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams. The ASF is one of the most active Shakespeare festivals in the United States with actors and actresses all the way from Los Angeles and New York participating in productions. The cast included Tony Award Winner for Best Actor in a Musical (Jersey Boys) John Lloyd Young, Greta Lambert, Christina King, and Kevin Earley.

Pre-IB and theater student Lizzie King said, “The acting was good and the experience was really fun. I’m glad I went especially because I want to get real life play experience for the upcoming IB theater projects.” The Glass Menagerie was the breakout masterpiece by legendary playwright Tennessee Williams. It is based on his own life story. Williams is also known for plays such as A Streetcar Named Desire, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, and Sweet Bird of Youth.

The play was performed in the Octagon Theater, an intimate environment with the actors being close to the audience and walking among them during the play. The play was the first play ever performed in the Octagon Theater back in December 1985.
