This past Monday, August 7th, 25 DHS organizations gathered in the gym to meet with members of the class of 2027.
Freshmen in attendance received packets containing their schedules, a bell schedule, and a picture day order form. After picking up the packets, the freshman walked around to organization tables that interested them. The Daphne High School Drama Club and Step Team layed out treats to attract new students, while the Red Cross Club used decorations.
Laurel Burcham, junior member of the DHS Drama Club, said, “I felt very happy welcoming the freshmen at orientation. I was a transfer student last year, and I wouldn’t have been able to succeed so well in school if I hadn’t had other students welcoming me in. So getting to turn around and welcome the freshmen felt like I was being helpful. DHS really has so much to offer, so being there to open the door for others to come in makes me feel like I have a good purpose.”
