DHS had ten seniors sign intent letters to be student-athletes at the collegiate level on the second signing day this school year. The signing ceremony took place in Trojan Hall with Daphne Mayor Haygood, students, family, student-athletes from the volleyball; football; cheer; basketball; and soccer programs, and DHS staff in attendance. Dr. Meredith Foster, DHS principle, welcomed everyone to the program and the choir sang the National Anthem. Student athletes that signed were as follows:

Basketball– Coach Cedric Yelding

  • Kendrick Buskey – Gadsen State
  • Davon McMillan – Coastal Alabama Community College
  • Quincy Scott – Coastal Alabama Community College
  • Jacob Williams – Coastal Alabama Community College
  • Drake Wright – Coastal Alabama Community College

Cheer– Coach Angela Deveney

  • Caylen Kidd – Coastal Alabama Community College

Football– Coach Kenny King (also Athletic Director)

  • Chance Newman – Virginia Military Institute

Soccer– Coach Cameron Williams

  • Wesley Perrigrin – University of Mobile

Volleyball– Coach Monique Williams

  • Sydney Omtvedt – Southwest Minnesota State University
  • Bri Turner – Coastal Alabama Community College

 

After they signed the student-athletes said a few words thanking everyone, making heartfelt comments to coaches.

Davon McMillan said, “Throughout my whole career I probably sat through it, but Coach stuck with me and taught me how to play basketball and be a man.”

Kendrick Buskey said, “I want to thank Coach Yelding, we’ve been through a lot and I’ve been with him since I was 7 and the [team] manager.”
