DHS Bowling Goes To State

The DHS Bowling Teams have made it to state for the first time in program history.

For the first time in program history, the Daphne High School Bowling Teams have qualified for state. The men’s team just in its 4th year as an official sport, and the women’s team in its 2nd year, have grown over the past few years. For the past two years they had been knocked out at regionals, but this year is the year for state.

Senior bowler Tyler Smith has been with the program since its start, and says that, “Qualifying means a lot because of all the time and hard work we put in especially because we’ve been knocked out at regionals for the past two years”. The bowling team has grown tremendously in strength since its founding. They have added a women’s team and both teams have been successful. The coach, Scott Smith says, “It’s a big deal for the girls and boys teams to make it in the same year. It means that were going in the right direction and each year we’re getting further and further.”

The bowling team has dealt with people at DHS that don’t consider bowling an actual sport. To those junior bowler Brenden Fos said, “Meet me at the lanes”.
